So, everyone has seen how advertising has leaked into video games. Tony Hawk is full of them. For awhile now video games and cell phones have been on a colliding path. With the new IPhone and its video games integration capabilities it looks like it will be moving mainstream very quickly. Google on its new G1 already has an in-game ad network. Massive an in-game ad agency owned by Microsoft is rumored to be creating its own smartphone. Everyone know about Sony’s PSP which is with Sony Ericsson is rumored to also have a patent in for its own smartphone. Could this put pressure on hand held gaming champs Nintendo or Sony? I feel like it will broaden the industry and create more opportunities for gaming developers and the end all video game user. Smartphones could introduce a whole new market to the gaming industry. Making it interactive on the go. I think this is going to have DS and PSP keeping a close eye on how IPhone develops as a mobile video game device.
There may begin to be an era of white collar business men playing Call of Duty in the airports.
